Study of Physico–chemical factors of river Gandak, Jadbharatsthan Baijalpur, Saran (Bihar)

Abstract: The water calibre always depends on hydro biological characters which reflects upon status of biota of ecosystem. Hydrobiological factors of Gandak River at Jadbharat Sthan Baijalpur of District Saran, Bihar, India was studied for the duration of 18 month from october 2019 to may 2021. Water samples were collected on a monthly basis for the analysis of hydrobioloical factors and gathered results were equate with reference value. Selected Hydrobiological factors analysed during investigation were pH, Total Dissolved Solids, Conductivity, temperature, total hardness, chloride, ammonia, turbidity and dissolved oxygen. These attributes were investigated and equate with reference value advocate by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) and World Health Organisation (WHO). Pollution status was investigated on the basis of results earned in the physicochemical properties of water. Findings in present investigation reflected that water temperature was maximum (32.50C) July 2020, value of water pH was found maximum in some investigating months. Conductivity observed maximum (185 µs/cm) in March 2021, Total Dissolved Solids was maximum (87 mg/L) in March 2021, Total Hardness was maximum (250 mg/L) in March 2020, Ammonia was maximum (.50 mg/L) in several months, Chloride was maximum (1.6 mg/L) in September 2020, Dissolved Oxygen was highest (9 mg/L) in October 2019 and August 2020, and Turbidity was maximum in (27.3 NTU) in August 2020.
