Abstract: A new midlate maturing sugarcane variety, MS 14082 (Phule Sugarcane 13007), was developed at the Central Sugarcane Research Station (CSRS), Padegaon, Maharashtra, through a biparental cross between CoM 0265 and CoM 0254. The variety was evaluated across 14 locations in the Peninsular Zone of India under AICRP(S) multi-location trials during 2019–2020. MS 14082 demonstrated superior performance in terms of cane yield, commercial cane sugar (CCS) yield, and sucrose content compared to existing zonal standards (Co 86032, CoC 671, and CoSnk 05103). It recorded a mean cane yield of 128.60 t/ha and a mean CCS yield of 17.58 t/ha, showing yield advantages of up to 25.90% and 29.70% over standards. Additionally, it exhibited good ratooning ability with high ratoon cane and CCS yields. Its high tillering capacity and moisture stress tolerance make it a promising variety for cultivation in Maharashtra and other states of the Peninsular Zone. The release of MS 14082 is expected to benefit both cane growers and the sugar industry through enhanced productivity and profitability.
