Abstract: The investigation on population dynamics of sphinx caterpillar, Acherontia styx (Westwood) on sesame in relation to weather parameters was under taken at college of Agriculture V. C. Farm, Mandya during 2022-23. The activity of sphingid moth on sesame started appearing from first week of February (0.50/ plant) and reached its peak in second week of March (2.30 larvae/ plant), later there was a gradual decline. The incidence of hawk moth during kharif 2022 was started from third week of August (0.40/ plant) and its peak incidence was noticed in fourth week of September (3.50/ plant). The correlation matrix and regression co-efficient indicating relationship between the til hawk moth incidence and meteorological variables reveals that, there was a negative association with sunshine hours (r = -0.65). Similarly, the population exerted positive association with, afternoon relative humidity (r = 0.54). When the data was subjected to multi linear regression analysis (MLR), the results revealed that 93 percent (R2 = 0.93) of population was influenced maximum temperature negatively and sunshine hours positively.
