Abstract:
The present investigation entitled “Performance of wheat varieties at different dates of sowing under Chhattisgarh plain” was carried out during Rabi, 2023-24 at the Instructional Farm, Barrister Thakur Chhedilal College of Agriculture and Research Station, Bilaspur (C.G.). The treatment consisting of two dates of sowing as main plot viz., D1 (11th November) and D2 (8th December) with five genotypes as subplot viz., (V1) HI1669, (V2) GW322, (V3) MACS6768, (V4) HI1650 and (V5) GW547(I) were laid out in split plot design with three replications. 100 kg of seeds were used per hectare for the crop, spaced 20 cm apart in rows. The outcome demonstrated that plant population, growth parameters, including plant height, dry matter accumulation (g plant-1), number of tillers and yield attributes, including ear length (cm), weight of grain, number of grain ear-1 head, grain yield (q ha-1), test weight (g), straw yield (q ha-1) and harvest index (%), were recorded maximum under the sowing date of 11th November (D1) and minimum value was recorded under the sowing date of 8th December (D2).
