Removal methods of copper (II) from wastewater

Abstract: Copper in trace amount is necessary for life processes. However, with higher concentration of this element in the environment and the consequent increase in human intake, copper concentration has reached toxic levels causing various diseases and is a concern to environment. Various approaches like cementation, membrane filtration, electrochemical methods, photocatalysis and adsorption are followed to remove the copper from wastewater. This review paper gives an overview to the various methods adopted for the removal of copper from wastewater.
