Abstract: Fifty soybean genotypes were tested with the aim to determine the extent of correlation and path analysis on fourteen yield and yield contributing characters. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design during year Kharif 2020 in main cropping season in IGKV, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The genotypic correlation analysis exhibited that seed yield per plant had positive and significant association with seven traits viz., number of seeds per plant, biological yield, harvest index, number of pods per plant, number of primary branches per plant and days to maturity. Path coefficient analysis considering seed yield per plant as dependent variable showed that pod bearing length (0.930) has high positive direct effect followed by biological yield (0.762), harvest index (0.657), number of seeds per plant (0.376), number of primary branches per plant (0.246) and 100 seed weight (0.149). So these characters could be used directly for selection to improve seed yield in soybean.
