Abstract:
The present investigation “Performance of black gram (Phaseolus mungo L.) varieties to spacings in kharif for seed production” was conducted on the Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Pune during Kharif, 2018 in spilt plot design using three replications. In the present investigation, main plot treatment consists three varieties (BDU-1, TAU-1 and AKU-10-1 (Black gold) and four spacings 30x05, 30x10, 45x05 and 45x10 cm2 as sub plot treatments. The results revealed that yield attributing characters were recorded significantly higher by V3: AKU-10-1(Black gold) while, shattering per cent (10.50%) was recorded numerically higher in variety V2 (TAU-1). At various spacings under treatment, the yield attributing characters was recorded higher at spacing S4: 45x10 cm2. Whereas, seed (1805 kg ha-1) and straw yields (1930.83 kg ha-1) were significantly higher at spacing S1 (30 x 05 cm2). Among varieties of black gram under treatments, V3: AKU-10-1 (Black gold) recorded maximum seed yield (1805.00 kg ha-1) but it was at par with V1: BDU-1 (1775.00 kg ha-1).
The maximum gross and net monetary returns (₹ha-1) and the highest benefit cost ratio respectively, were obtained by variety V3: AKU-10-1 (Black gold) followed by variety V1: (BDU-1). At spacing S1 (30x05 cm2) followed by spacing S3 (45x05 cm2) the maximum gross and net monetary returns of ₹78387 and ₹53687 ha-1, respectively, were obtained.
The interaction effect between varieties and spacings was found non-significant for all the yield attributing characters and yield of black gram.
