Abstract: India is one of the world's largest producers of rice (Oryza Sativa). Rice contributes more than 40 per cent of the country's total food grain production. The rank of Madhya Pradesh in rice production is in the 12th position. Looking to the importance of rice crop in Indian agriculture, there is need of mechanization in harvesting opearation of paddy crop to reduce human drudgery and solve the problem of labour scarcity in harvesting season. In present research work attempt has been made to evaluate the performance of combine harvester, and for that the evaluation trials of Indian-made self-propelled combine harvester was carried out in the experimental fields of Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya in Jabalpur. The combine harvester was tested as per the BIS testing codes with the four varieties of paddy i.e. Kranti, JR-206, JR-81, IR-64 with three different forward speeds i.e. 2.7 km/h, 2.8 km/h and 2.9 km/h. The average value of effective field capacity of the combine was found to be from 0.64 ha/h to 0.78 ha/h with field efficiency of 70.32 per cent to 79.59 per cent.
