Woman empowerment through Bihan utility Centre, Serikhedi, Raipur (C.G.)

Abstract: The study was conducted for the empowerment of women through training provided by the Bihan Utility Centre with the specific objectives to document different types of training provided by them and analyze the extent of income & employment generated in different women enterprise. This study confined that women trainees who acquired training from Bihan Utility Centre, Serikhedi, Raipur are washing powder, phenyl and papad making, then they started their business activities through already established Self Help Groups in the vicinity of Dharampura, Serikhedi area of Raipur district. Training provided by Bihan Utility Centre, Raipur to farmers and women respectively 1 day, 2 days, 7 days or more days, where 2 days and 3 days are generally for women empowerment where the ratio of women was more as compared to men. Aggregate major findings for the cost incurred in all activities are as follows- Vidyamahila spent Rs 10351, Radhakrishna SHG group Rs 8974, Jai Mata Di Rs 7949, Mata Rani Rs 6015 and Aarti Rs 5274. Similarly, Net return incurred in all activities Vidyamahila Rs 4649, Mata Rani Rs 3345, Jai Mata Di Rs 3651, Radhakrishna Rs 3866, Aarti Rs 3526and the major findings for employment in all activities are as follows - Vidyamahila 13 days/month, Radhakrishna 12.75 days/month, Jai Mata Di is 12.5 days/month, Mata Rani 8.25 days/month and Aarti is 8 days/month. Major constraints reported by members of SHGs were less demand of the product which forces them to produce less because supply cannot be surplus otherwise they won’t get a good price and also the product quality maintenance is also a major problem because of unavailability of proper equipment the product quality diminishes with time.
