Abstract: Field experiment was conducted at Horticultural Research Station, Yercaud, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during the period June 2008 to April 2009 to find out the influence of organic and biofertilizers on soil microbial activity in black pepper (Piper nigrum L.). the experiment was laid out with six treatments replicated four times in a randomized block design. Among the treatments of organic manures and biofertilizers, the microbial population on bacteria (x103 CFU g1 soil), fungi (x104 CFU g-1 soil) and actinomycetes (x107 CFU g-1 soil) was higher in the combined application (T5) of FYM, Azospirillum, Phosphobacteria and VAM at initial, flowering and harvesting stage.
