Abstract: Field experiment was carried out at ‘C’ block farm, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai during summer (January-April)’2019 to study the effect of varied levels of application of nitrogen along with its split application on yield attributes and yield of hybrid maize. The treatments consists application of different nitrogen levels viz., 250, 225, 200 and 175 kg ha-1 with 3, 4 and 5 split application along with STCR based nutrient management and a control plot (without nitrogen) was maintained for comparison. The results revealed that, application of 225 kg ha -1 of nitrogen in five equal splits at 7 DAS, 25 DAS, 45 DAS, 60 DAS and 75 DAS (T4) produced significantly higher values of cob length, cob girth, number of grains cob-1, test weight, grain yield and stover yield.
