Human resource management practices in hypermarkets in Coimbatore city

Abstract: An organization's progress mostly depends on its Human Resource. Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a prominent role in achieving organizational goals. The retail sector has played a unique role in India with a tremendous benefaction to the Indian economy. The hypermarket retailing in India is transforming and is anticipated to scale to meet global standards. In the present scenario of cut-throat competition, the necessity for effective HRM practices has been rising rapidly. Human resource is the competitive advantage for hypermarkets. The hypermarket retailers in India have begun to discern the need for efficient manpower to face this fierce competition of the global economy. The current study examined the relationship between HRM practices and employee outcomes in hypermarkets. Data was collected from 100 employees of hypermarkets of Coimbatore city. It was noted that HRM practices in hypermarkets were related to employee outcomes. It was found that the significant factors influencing the employee outcomes were good and safe work conditions and performance appraisal.
