Abstract: Histological stratification of CMGT and grading of tumours will be of diagnostic and prognostic significance in surgically excised clinical cases. Such characterisation and grading will be useful for diagnostic and prognostic purpose before initiation of an experimental chemotherapeutic regimen for CMGT. Forty three mammectomised tissue samples were characterized histological stratification and grading. In the present study, mixed breed (30.23%) and Labrador (34.88%) Spitz (20.93%) were found to have increased occurrence. Incidence in other breeds like Daschund 2/43 (4.65%), German Shepherd 2/43 (4.65%), Dalmatian1/43 (2.32%), Lhasa apso 1/43 (2.32) were also recorded. Recording of age wise incidence revealed 53.48 % among 9 – 12 years followed 39.53 % among 5- 8 years. Occurrence was lower among less than 5 years and above 12 years of age 4.65 % each. On histological studies 7 benign tumours (19.44%) and 36 malignant tumours (83.72%) was observed. Ductal adenoma, simple adenoma, mixed adenoma, fibroadenoma were the benign histological types recorded. Among malignant tumours, tubular carcinoma and its subtypes, like papillary, cystic papillary, micropapillary, solid and mixed carcinomas were predominant. Complex carcinoma, mucinous, lipid rich and spindle cell carcinomas were also reported of lesser occurrence. Rarely squamous cell carcinoma and fibrosarcoma. In the present study, 27.91% malignant CMGT were graded as 1 and 2 each, and 32.56% were graded as Grade 3. Based on the histological classification and grading the prognostic significance was indicated.
