Dc electron conductivity and thermal analysis of nanocomposite derived from heterocyclic monomers

Author(s): A Parija

Abstract: Polypyridine was synthesised in the Nano form by adding ferric chloride and salicylic acid to pyridine in acidic medium followed by stirring with magnetic stirrer for 10 hrs. Ni/Mn/Cu nanoparticles prepared by sonication method was added to the prepolymer to form nanocomposite. Polypyridine and polypyridine nanocomposite were characterized by UV, FTIR, XRD, TGA and SEM. The optical band gap calculated from UV data was comparatively low. The polymer and poly nanocomposite was found to be thermally stable. The dc electron conductivity found by four-probe method was of the order of 10-6 S/cm.
