Abstract: Blumea lanceolaria is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Asteraceae, found in the tropical and sub-tropical zones of Asia, especially the Indian Sub-continent and Southeast Asia. The plant has an enormous medicinal value and has been widely used in the traditional medicinal system as antipyretic, stimulant, astringent, anthelmintic, febrifuge, diuretic and to treat hemorrhoids, bronchitis, sores, wound healing etc. The antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract of the Blumea lanceolaria leaf was evaluated by three in vitro assay methods viz. DPPH free radical scavenging assay method, FRAP assay and Total phenolic content assay. The DPPH free radical scavenging activity, FRAP and total phenolic content estimated were 302.37±59.78 mg/100 g TE, 4.60±0.17mg TE/ 100 g and 1298.93mg/100g DW respectively.
