Influence of profile characteristics on agro-based training need of rural youth

Abstract: Youth is an important and vital segment of human resource to increase agricultural production and improve the economic condition of youth to a certain extent depends on knowledge level and adoption behaviour of improved package of practices by young farmers. Training need of an individual is influenced by many social and economic factors such as education level, wealth, land holding and innovativeness. the study was aimed to know the influence of profile characteristics on the training need of rural youth.the study was carried out in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh and the result of the study shown that five variables namely; size of land holding, source of income, annual income, information seeking behaviour and innovativeness were found to be significantly related with the agro-based training need of rural youth. To make vocational training more effective suggestions were offered by the rural youth. Out of total rural youth, 90.83 per cent suggested that proper physical facilities should be made available to make it effective.
