Abstract: The experiment was conducted during Kharif season of the year 2017-18 at Agronomy Farm, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Dapoli to study the effect of different mulches on growth, yield attributes, yield and quality of hybrid rice. The soil of the experimental plot was sandy clay loam in texture, acidic in pH and medium in organic carbon content. It was low in available nitrogen, medium in available phosphorus and available potassium. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design consisting ten treatments including 7 and 25 micron thickness polythene mulches of black, silver and transparent colors, paddy straw and glyricidia leaves mulch and control of weed free and weedy check. The hybrid rice grown under 25 micron silver polythene mulch recorded significantly higher growth, yield attributes and yield followed by 25 micron black polythene mulch and 7 micron silver polythene mulch.
