Abstract: To develop fertiliser prescription equations for hybrid brinjal, field experiments were conducted on Visakhapatnam soil series (Typic Haplustept) of North Coastal zone of Andhra Pradesh at the Farm of College of Horticulture, Parvathipuram under Dr. YSR Horticultural University by application of Integrated Plant Nutrition System on the basis of STCR approach during 2017-18. Following the Inductive methodology, variations in soil fertility had been established through gradient experiment with fodder maize and test crop experiment with hybrid brinjal. In the test crop experiment, there were 24 treatments comprising four levels each of N (0,80,180 and 240 kg ha-1), P2O5(0,40,80 and 120 kg ha-1) and K2O( 0,60,120 and 180 kg ha-1). The IPNS treatments viz., NPK alone, NPK+ FYM@12.5 t ha-1and NPK+ FYM @ 25 t ha-1 were super imposed across strips. The 24 treatments were randomized in each strip in such a way that all the treatments occurred in both the directions and the design of experiment was fractional factorial. The results of the present investigation clearly revealed that there was a progressive increase in response with increase in levels of fertiliser N,P2O5 and K2O and FYM. Therefore, using the experimental data, the basic parameters viz., (i) the requirement of N, P2O5 and K2O for hybrid brinjal was found to be 0.36,0.14 and0.35 kg q-1 respectively (ii) the per cent contribution of nutrients from soil (Cs) was 44.79, 54.32 and 36.19; from fertilisers (Cf) was 47.99, 41.86 and 63.69;from farm yard manure (Co) was 25.51, 15.25 and 27.03 for N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively. Making use of the basic parameters, fertiliser prescription equations (FPEs) have been developed and ready reckoner of fertiliser doses were formulated for desired yield targets of hybrid brinjal for a range of soil test values under NPK alone and IPNS for desired yield target of hybrid brinjal. For a soil test value of 220:26:240 kg ha-1 of KMnO4–N, Olsen–P and NH4OAc-K, the fertiliser N, P2O5 and K2O doses required to achieve desired yield target of 50,55 and 60 t ha-1were 97:53:55 kg ha-1; 134:70:69 kg ha-1 and 171:87:111 kg ha-1, respectively along with FYM @ 25 t ha-1. When FYM @ 25 t ha-1 was applied along with NPK for hybrid brinjal, the extent of saving was 72, 40 and 58 kg of fertiliser N,P2O5 and K2O respectively over NPK alone resulting in efficient and economic use of fertilisers under IPNS. Using the monograms, critical soil test values for available NPK were also fixed.
