Abstract: The microbes which live inside the plant tissue without causing any harm to the plants are called endophytes. Mulberry is the sole food crop to the silkworm Bombyx mori. Growth and development of mulberry are very important in silkworm rearing. Naturally, the endophytes are present in the different plant parts of mulberry such as leaves, stem and roots contributing to the growth and development of Mulberry. This study was done to isolate the endophytic bacteria from the leaves, stem and roots of mulberry (Morus indica L.) varieties V1 and G4 and to identify their capability for the IAA production. The isolated samples (30 Nos) were subjected to the IAA production assay. 50 percent of the cultures produced a high range of IAA varying from 45-60 µg/ml. The isolates LB7 and LB3 from variety V1 and G4 showed promising abilities. The amount of IAA production was 57.73 and 57.69 µg/ml respectively.
