Abstract: The experiment was carried out to study the effect of temperature on lymphocyte proliferation assay and phagocytic activity during summer, monsoon, winter and thermoneutral seasons. To carry out the experiment, total of 24 clinically healthy kankrej cows were randomly selected from LRS, SDAU and categorized in to 4 different groups according to seasons. Blood samples were collected from each animal twice during the season in heparinized vaccutainers and samples were used for separation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Separated cells were used to culture for stimulation index for lymphocyte proliferation assay (LPA) and phagocytic activity (PA). The results demonstrate that stimulation index for LPA and PA of PBMCs were significantly higher in thermoneutal season as compared to monsoon season, indicating that thermoneutral is the most comfortable season for animals.
