An economic analysis of production of cotton in Warangal district of Telangana

Abstract: The Present study entitled “An Economic Analysis of production of Cotton in Warangal district of Telangana” was conducted in year 2018-2019. The study made use of a multistage sampling and random sampling technique to select 105 respondents among those selected villages. Data for the study were collected with the aid of well- structured questionnaires. Data collected were analyzed using tabulation method along with required statistical tool. The results indicated that the cost incurred by small, medium and large farms (Rs.73698.8/ha), (Rs.72708/ha) and (Rs.71912/ha) respectively. The gross return obtained per hectare by small, medium and large was (Rs.106690/ha), (Rs.106820/ha) and (Rs.107800/ha) respectively. And net return per hectare small, medium, large farms (Rs.32991.2/ha), (Rs.37487/ha) and (Rs.39338/ha) respectively. Input- Output ratio per hectare was small (1:1.44), medium (1:1.51), large (1:1.54) respectively. Farm business income Rs.44735.6/ha, farm investment income Rs.47985.7/ha, Family labour income Rs.6750/ha. This study revealed that at overall level, per hectare cost of cultivation, gross income, net income farm investment income, cost of production and input and output ratio of cotton was worked out.
