Abstract: The present study was carried out to determine the LD50 value in senna (Cassia augustifolia Vahl) in the variety KKM-1. Since the senna is basically self-pollinated crop, variation can be induced through mutation. Seeds were treated with both physical mutagen (gamma) and chemical mutagen (EMS) to create the variability by mutation breeding. The LD50 was fixed based on the germination percentage (%), mortality percentage (%), shoot length (cm), root length (cm) and probit value. The germination and growth parameters were decreased with the increase in dose of the mutagenic treatments. Fifty percent of lethality was observed in the seeds treated with 1% EMSand 6kR Gamma radiation. Based on this LD50 value, the seeds can be raised in main field.
