An economic analysis of wheat cultivation in Ballia district of eastern Uttar Pradesh

Abstract: A sample of 100 farmers (respondent)of different categories scattered in five village in pandak block of Ballia district (UP) data were analysed and found that average holding size was 1.27 hectare and cropping intensity was 216.53 percent wheat accupied 36.72 percent of gross cropped area. It offers a net income Rs. 13232.00 with an expenditure of Rs 37076.60 as total cost per hectare. input –output ratio was found to 1: on over all forms having direct relationship with size of holding. wheat cultivation on the study was charecterised by decreasing returns to scale.
