Abstract: Green gram is an important legume crop which is often preferred for protein uptake because of its easy digestibility. Genetic variability and heritability helps in selection of superior genotypes, hence in the present study advanced breeding genotypes of green gram were evaluated for yield and its competent traits along with YMV and leaf crinkle diseases during kharif, 2018. The incidence of YMV and leaf crinckle is very low as now a days breeding efforts are targeted towards development of resistant varieties. Genetic variation among genotypes was moderate for all traits expect for No. of grains/pod. Moderate GCV values along with high heritability and high GAM for grain yield recorded here is in an indicative of presence of moderate genetic variation having both additive and non-additive components where selection may be effective to some extent. Hence, for complete selection of grain yield, we need to depend on its component traits but in this study it is not correlated with any other traits which prompts that selection for any other trait may not have any obvious effect on grain yield. Correlation of leaf crinkle with days to 50% flowering and plant height can be taken as advantage to select an early maturing short plant with resistance to diseases and with good yield potential.
