Abstract: Field trial was carried out at Eastern Block Farm, Department of Agronomy, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during kharif 2018 (July to November) to evaluate the pressure of high density planting and various fertilizer levels on maize growth and yield. The field experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The field experiment comprised of nine treatments which include four different spacings with one or two seedlings per hill and various nutrient management practices. The result of this experiment shows positive impact on growth parameters and yield. Higher growth parameters like plant height, leaf area index and dry matter production and yield were observed under the closer geometry of 30 cm × 25 cm with one seedling per hill and 200% RDF. Yield parameters like test weight, number of grains per cob, cob length, girth and weight of cob were higher under plant geometry of 60 cm × 25 cm - one seeding hill-1 with 100 % RDF.
