Trends in arrivals and prices of wheat in selected regulated markets of Maharashtra

Abstract: The trend in arrivals and price changes over years observed in the long run. The study of trends enables us to indicate the general directions of changes in arrivals and prices in different markets over the period. The variations in prices are observed over different markets. They occur due to differences in location of production and consumption of commodities. Objectives were to study the trends and seasonality in arrivals and prices of Wheat. The secondary data on monthly total arrivals and modal prices were collected for the period from 1990-91 to 2012-2013. The results indicated that Arrivals of wheat recorded in the month of March and April and minimum arrivals in November to January. In case of prices picking in the month of December and lowest in the month of March. Market arrivals of Wheat were highest in Amravati market and were noticed to increase by 31587.79 qt every year. Annual increases in prices of wheat were found to be highest in Osmanabad market (Rs 35.77/qt).
