Abstract: The field experiment was carried out in Farmer’s field of Madurai East Block during the Kharif 2018 season. Adjacent fields were utilized for the experiment on puddled and un-puddled field condition to evaluate different weed management practices for paddy under System of Rice Intensification (SRI). The results showed that puddled field was better at 10 DAT, whereas un-puddled field found to be better than puddled field at 20 & 30 DAT. Among different weed management practices evaluated, application of pre-emergence herbicide pretilachlor @ 1.5lts/ha on 3 DAT followed by conoweeding @ 10, 20 & 30 DAT recorded lesser weed density, weed dry weight and higher weed control efficiency as well as lower weed index. The interaction effect between application of pre-emergence herbicide pretilachlor @ 1.5lts/ha on 3 DAT followed by conoweeding @ 10, 20 & 30 DAT and puddled field condition had recorded lower weed index. Also, application of pre-emergence herbicide pretilachlor @ 1.5lts/ha on 3 DAT followed by conoweeding @ 10, 20 & 30 DAT under un-puddled field condition recorded lower weed density, weed dry weight and weed control efficiency.
