Abstract: The experiment was conducted during 2015-16 at Vegetable Research Station of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, Hyderabad, Telangana comprising thirty F1 hybrids of tomato along with eleven parents (five lines and six testers) and one commercial check (Arka Rakshak). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with three replications. Nineteen observations were recorded relating to yield and quality traits. Five cross combinations viz., EC-608415 × Arka Abha, EC-608415 × Punjab Chhuhara, EC-620360 × Pusa Ruby, EC-619982 × EC-620557 and EC-608415 × Arka Saurabh have been identified as promising. The cross EC-608415 × Arka Abha exhibited heterobeltiosis (69.37%) and standard heterosis (64.49%) over the check Arka Rakshak for fruit yield per plant. The overall results indicated that parents involved in crossing should have one high per se performing parent. Further, the results revealed that over dominance may be the cause of heterosis.
