Abstract: The present investigation aimed to identify resistance in urdbean (Vigna mungo) against Cercospora leaf spot (CLS) in a field condition. The trial was conducted at Genetics and Plant Breeding Farm of Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya. Forty six urdbean genotypes were screened in the summer season of the year of 2015- 2016. The severity of was recorded following 0-9 scale. The urdbean genotypes evaluated were grouped into different categories based on disease reaction. The present results indicated that genotype IPU 11-2, PU 10-23, KU 96-7, Pant U 19, TU 94-2, VBG 09-005, KPU 524-65, NIRB-004, DKU 11, Vamban 7, NDUK 13-6, CO 5, KUG 725, PU 10-16, NUL 7, Pant U 30, WBU 108, NIRB-003, Shekhar 3, NDUK 15-9, TU 67, VBG 12-062, RMG 353, IU 05-1, VBG 11-053, IPM 94-1, RUG 55 and TU 22 were resistant to CLS, 6 genotypes viz.; AKU 11-15, K 851, KU 96-3, LBG 645, NIRB-002, COBG 11-03 were exhibited moderately resistant, 05 genotypes viz.; LBG 623, MU 46, MU 44, KU 14-1, DBG 11 were showed moderately susceptible, 06 genotypes viz.; RUG 59, IPU 2-43, Pant U 31, KUG 479, IPU 13-1, KPU 129-104 were susceptible and only one genotype was highly susceptible. None of these genotypes was found free from infection. The urdbean genotypes which were found resistant the could be the choice for resistance against CLS.
