Abstract: In the present study the extractable protein concentration of hair of Assam Hill Goat was found significantly high in ruminant age group (262.66±11.45 µg/mg) than pre ruminant age group (P<0.01) and non significant during transitional, ruminant age group. The extractable lipid content of hair did not show significant variation during the three age groups goat. The total protein and lipid content of hair estimated (AOAC 2006) of Assam Hill Goat was found to be significantly higher during transitional and ruminant age group than Preruminant age group (P<0.05). In the present study maximum protein and lipid content was estimated during ruminant age groups of goat (85.73±0.51) and 4.06±0.511 respectively. The single dimensions SDS-PAGE of hair protein of Assam Hill Goat were resolved in two protein bands with molecular weight of 69.85 kDa, 42.02 kDa. And protein resolved at 42.02 kDa was distinctly resolved. The values of hair protein, lipid of hair Assam Hill Goat can be used as criteria for biochemical characterization and also be used as the base line study for the future research.
