Abstract: The experiment entitled "Effect of levels of sulphur on soil properties, growth, yield and economics of onion" was carried out during rabi season in the year 2013-2014 at Main Garden, Department of Horticulture, Dr. PDKV, Akola. The experiment was laid out in RBD with nine levels of sulphur viz. (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 kg S ha-1) which was replicated three times. Out of nine treatments the sulphur application @ 40 kg ha-1 is the best in respect of growth and yield parameter as it recorded the maximum plant height (39.98, 60.92 and 70.56 cm at 30, 60 and 90 DAT respectively), maximum number of leaves at 30 DAT (6.70), 60 DAT (9.44) and 90 DAT (12.46), maximum neck thickness 1.50 cm as well as highest yield/ plot (5.81 Kg) and yield/ ha (215.18 q). This treatment also recorded maximum B:C ratio (1:3.75). The available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and sulphur were recorded higher in treatment of soil application of sulphur @ 80 kg ha-1.
