Abstract: The Japanese quail is a poultry species that is reared mainly for eggs and meat. They possess an excellent disease resistance quality than those of chickens and have been chosen for its economical viability in farming. The knowledge of normal values of biochemical constituents of different animals are of academic as well as practical importance for clinical and experimental interpretations. Knowledge of mineral concentration and diagnostic enzymes in the body fluid or blood plasma is usually used as a diagnostic tool for assessing variety of disorders. In the present investigation the levels of calcium, inorganic phosphate, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride, SGPT, SGOT, alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase were estimated in adult Japanese quails reared under Agro Climatic conditions of Mizoram were evaluated to generate the baseline data. The observed plasma levels were calcium- 9.75±0.70 mg/dl, inorganic phosphate- 5.25±2.72 mg/dl, magnesium- 3.35±0.46 g/dl, sodium- 145.5±9.74 mmol/L, potassium- 2.35±0.37 mmol/L, chloride- 107.50±7.72 mmol/L, SGPT- 2.25±0.95 U/l, SGOT- 258.0±75.19 U/l, alkaline phosphatase- 572.50±142.49 U/l and lactate dehydrogenase was 237.0±25.21 U/l.
