Abstract: A field experiment was conducted for three consecutive years from 2014-15 to 2016-17 at Sugarcane Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Buralikson to assess the effects of ethrel and gibberellic acid on growth, yield and quality of sugarcane. Result revealed that planting of setts after overnight soaking at 50 ppm ethrel solution and 100 ppm solution enhanced the germination 28.27% and 33.26%, respectively over control. Plant height, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation by plant was also enhanced due to setts soaking with plant growth regulators. Planting of setts after overnight soaking at 100 ppm ethrel followed by gibberellic acid spray recorded the highest cane yield of 74.18 t/ha which is 35.54% higher than control, but was statistically at par with the yield at 50 ppm level of ethrel and followed by gibberellic acid spray (71.50 t/ha). However, there was no significant difference in juice quality among different treatments.
