Abstract: A comparative study was conducted in cattle suffering with horn cancer and broken horn. Total 12 cattles (6 with horn cancer and 6 with broken horn) were treated by horn amputation in lateral recumbency under cornual nerve block using 2% lignocaine hydrochloride. All animals fully recovered after surgery without showing any complication. Preoperative haemato-biochemical profile of these animals shows significantly more MCHC (gm/dl) and granulocytes (x109/L) i.e. 35.2±0.590 and 6.16±1.532 respectively and significantly less total protein (g/dl) and AST (µ/l) i.e. 6.56±0.274 and 68.58±1.541 respectively in cattle suffering with horn cancer. This was changed up to normal level after 12th post operative days. Remaining haemato-biochemical parameters were within the normal limits in both affections.
