Assessment of morphological and cultural characteristics of Peziotrichum corticolum (Rhinocladium corticolum) (Massee) subramanian causing black banded disease of mango

Abstract: Black banded disease of mango is a severe problem in Konkan region since last two to three years and is caused by Peziotrichum corticolum (Massee) after confirmed by isolation. Seven different culture media were used in present investigation to studies morphological and cultural characteristics of the Peziotrichum corticolum (Rhinocladium corticolum). The isolated fungus shows maximum radial growth on PDA fortified with bark extract media (90.00 mm) and which was followed by V8 agar media which shows 83.33 mm. The culture of isolated pathogen exhibited diversity with respect to cultural characters like growth of mycelium, colour of mycelium and colony margin.
