Abstract: The methanolic and ethyl acetate extracts from the leaves of A. cruentus L. were investigated for highlight its bioactive components. This study led to the isolation and identification of two polyphenols namely (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin which recognized biologically important. Their structures were elucidated thanks to their spectral data (NMR, MS, IR and UV). The presence of these two compounds in extracts of A. cruentus L. showed that the consumption of its leaves have a biological interest on human health.
