Beneficiaries knowledge regarding Mahatma Gandhi national rural employment guarantee act programme

Abstract: The present study was conducted in Banaskantha district of Gujarat state. Banaskantha district comprises of 14 talukas out of which, four talukas viz., Danta, Amirgadh, Deesa and Dantiwada were selected purposively. Thereafter, five villages from each selected talukas and ten MNREGA beneficiaries from each selected village were selected randomly consisting sample size of 200 MNREGA beneficiaries. Data were collected through face to face interview and was subject to analysis. Knowledge in the present study was operationalized as a body of understood information possessed by an individual about MNREGA. To measure the knowledge of the beneficiaries about MNREGA, a knowledge test was developed. More than two fifth (63.00 per cent) of the MNREGA beneficiaries had medium level of knowledge regarding MNREGA, followed by 19.50 and 17.50 per cent of them had low and high level of knowledge of MNREGA, respectively.
