Abstract: A Survey was carried out to study available nutrient status of forest growing soils of district Ganderbal of Kashmir valley. Three locations were selected and surveyed (simple random survey) for the purpose of collection of soil samples. The samples were processed and analyzed for different nutrients. Soil reaction was slightly acidic to alkaline and the soluble salt concentration was negligible. The available nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and Sulphur were medium to high in range and decreases with the increase in depth and similar trend was followed by micronutrients decreases with the increase in depth however Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn were medium to high in range.
