Author(s): Jyotsna Dhanik and Surendra Kumar
Abstract: Heavy metals are one of the most important pollutants which pollute environment by several ways. The present work deals with the adsorption of Fe2+ metal ions from its aqueous solution in presence of co-metal ions (Cu2+, Mn2+, Ca2+ and Zn2+) using cheap and biodegradable adsorbent prepared from Cuscuta biomass. The studies were carried out by batch method and metal ions concentrations were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The effect of pH and concentration of Fe2+ ions on percentage adsorption of Fe2+ ions on Cuscuta powder were studied. The results of this study found that metal ions affected the adsorption of Fe2+ ions onto Cuscuta powder in the following order: Cu2+ > Zn2+ > Mn2+ > Ca2+.
