Grewia tiliaefolia bark extract –An inhibitor on mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid medium

Abstract: The inhibition effect of Grewia tiliaefolia Bark extract on mild steel in hydrochloric acid medium was examined by weight loss methods and potentiodynamic polarization method. Grewia tiliaefolia Bark extract acted as a good corrosion inhibitor in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid. Inhibition efficiency value increased with inhibitor concentration. Polarization curves indicated that Grewia tiliaefolia Bark extract acted as mixed type inhibitor in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid. The stability of the adsorbed layer was studied and the inhibition of the extract components on the mild steel surface was proved by surface analysis methods.
