Synthesis and biological evaluation of (E)-S-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl 2-benzylidene)hydrazinyl) ethanethioate derivatives

Abstract: We have developed a highly efficient approach for the preparation of S-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl 2-hydrazinylethanethioate 4 in acetic acid. Product 4 was further used for the synthesis of (E)-S-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl 2-substituted benzylidene)hydrazinyl) ethanethioate derivatives 6a-k under mild reaction condition. The synthesized compounds were further confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their biological activity against different strains of bacteria, fungi and antitubercular.
