Extraction and identification of flavonoid natural antioxidant in the leaves of Rauwolfia serpentina

Abstract: For the presence of flavonoidal constituents, the leaves of Indian medicinal plant Rauwolfia serpentinawere phytochemically analyzed. From the alcoholic extract, flavonoidal structure was isolated. The structure of the isolated compound was determined by using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Structure of the isolated compound was determined as 3,3’,4’,5,7- pentahydroxy flavones i.e., Quercetin.
