Reactivity of lactose towards Ce(IV) in sulphuric acid medium in presence of Ir3+ catalyst

Abstract: Lactose and cerium(IV) reacts in sulphuric acid medium in presence of Ir3+ catalyst. Lactose is oxidised to formic acid and cerium(IV) is reduced to cerium(III).
