Study of terbium carboxylates for ultrasonic measurements and related parameters in organic solvent mixture
Author(s): Dr. Neerja Sharma
Abstract: Measurements of ultrasonic velocity of terbium carboxylates (caprate, laurate, myristate, palmitate and stearate) in xylene-DMF (7:3v/v) have been made to study their acoustical behavior. The results show that ultrasonic velocity increases with concentration of solution and chain length of carboxylates. The values of CMC are similar to those observed from other measurements of micellar properties. The acoustic parameters as adiabatic compressibility, apparent molar compressibility, inter molecular free length specific acoustic impedance solvation number and relative association have been evaluated from ultrasonic velocity measurements.
